Hello, my name is Sydney Wade, I am a fourth year Political Studies major at Queens University. I am hoping to go back to school in a year or two, I am leaning towards studying public relations or human resources, somewhere in Toronto. At Queens I am the event coordinator for Women in International Security (WIIS). I am also involved with Besties for Breasties as the logistics coordinator, which is the breast cancer awareness club on campus. I was interested in this course because being in fourth year (which is very daunting) I am going to be entering into the work force in the near future so I thought it would be beneficial to gain a better understanding of employment relations in Canada. I look forward to learning with you all!

Hi Sydney,
I enjoyed reading your introduction and hearing about all of your involvement in extra circulars! Where about are you considering going back to school? Toronto? I also am taking this course for similar reasons as I am also a fourth year student who will be entering the full-time workforce very soon. Sounds like this course will be beneficial for you as-well. I look forward to taking EMPR200 with you.

Hello Mary, thank you for your response! Yes, I am thinking of Toronto so that I can commute. It seems as if we are in the same group for the simulation, I look forward to getting to know you. Cheers!

Hi Sydney!
I loved reading your introduction and seeing how you’re involved within the Queen’s community! I too, took this course because I thought it would be useful after I graduate and enter the work force. I also took this course because I want to expand my knowledge on employment relations and the workplace and learn how it impacts us not only as individuals, but also as a community.
Looking forward to reading more of your posts!

Hey, Joanna! Thank you so much for your response. I agree that the content of this course will definitely be both interesting and useful. I hope that we both get a lot out of it and feel more prepared to go into the work force soon. Cheers,

Hey Syd, ! I’m also in my final year of studies at Queen’s majoring in Political Studies, I think we may have had a few classes together over the years? Public relations and HR is a super interesting and diverse industry, I think you have a great plan and it would complement your degree in Political Studies nicely.
You’re super involved at Queen’s, WISE is a phenomenal club and I will attending there next event in March! I think we’ve taken this class for similar reasons, as I think this class is a great opportunity to learn more about human resources and labour policy that will not only be intrinsically beneficial knowledge but lead to more opportunities once we leave Queens this year.
Looking forward to connecting further – Brett
